Feeding Practices and how they can influence the development of tooth decay, snacks, frequency, avoidance of night time bottle/sippy cup, ad lib breast-feeding through the night, thorough oral hygiene before bed, in infancy, this may begin with gentle wiping of baby teeth with a warm moist wash cloth, and should progress to brushing with a plain dampened tooth brush.
The importance of limiting amount and frequency of sticky and sugary snacks and drinks.

Trauma prevention
Is the house child-proofed?
Electric outlet and cord safety, changing table safety, steps, cabinets, etc.
the importance of establishing the "dental home"
Discourage topical anesthetics for teething because of the danger of toxicity.
No more than a smear of fluoridated toothpaste beginning at age 1.5-2yrs,
parental delivery/participation in oral hygiene AM/PM through age 8!
